Improvement of healthcare system a top priority

Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) to mark its Tenth Anniversary organized a Ceremony at Sindh Governor House. It was attended by Syndicate Members, Academic Council Members, Seniors Professors, Doctors and students. The Ceremony was presided over by Sindh Governor and Chancellor DUHS, Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan.

Dr. Ebad while speaking on the occasion said that improving the healthcare system of the country had been one of the top priorities of the Government and DUHS had set an example by starting with only 3 constituent institutes, which produced doctors only, to now having established 55 institutes, which catered to all segments of health care like Dental Surgeons, Biomedical Engineers, ICU and operation theatre, technologist, Pharmacologists, Health Care Managers, Physiotherapist just to name a few.

He said that the journey of this University started 10 years ago with a focus of upholding the traditions of constituent institutions and providing a platform where young minds of future generations could be molded to serve the nation in a better way.

It was reassuring that DUHS was inculcating quality medical education and research. Since the inception of this university more than 1200 original research papers have been published by the students and faculty of this University and this surely is an achievement to be proud of.

He said that the University played its role in providing clinical services to the community with the establishment of Laboratory and Radiology facilities. It was first public sector university, which had done so and he hoped other universities of similar background will adopt this approach where all necessary investigations would be done at an affordable rate.

He appreciated the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, faculty, staff and students had very cohesively worked together in the last decade.

Prof. Masood Hameed Khan, Vice Chancellor, DUHS addressing the occasion recounted the progress of the University since its inception and also highlighted 10 years achievements of Dow University since its inception.He informed that the DUHS had three constituent institutions in 2003, which gained the status of varsity but now it had almost 55 such institutions.
