This Tamil song in Raga Mohana is from the 'Sundarakandam' of 'Anantha Ramayanam' composed by the great poet Arunachala Kavirayar depicts how Sri Rama is beholden by Ravana's brother Vibhishana who opposing Ravana's atrocities, goes to seek Sri Rama's Blessings. This song for which Maharajapuram Visvanatha Iyer was famous, was my favourite when, as an orphaned boy of 8yrs I used to listen to my musically blessed Maternal Grandmother, who would begin singing songs from Ananda Ramayanam after tenderly laying me on her laps while gently swaying the swing (oonjal) which was common in village homes. This song describes how Sri Rama is beholden by Ravana's brother Vibhishana who opposing Ravana's atrocities, goes to seek Sri Rama's Blessings.
