Mida Creek - Kenya's tidal inlet under threat | Global 3000

There are birds as far as the eye can see on the mud and sand flats of Mida Creek lagoon on the Indian Ocean. It’s a perfect habitat, created by the ebb and flow of the tides. But this ecosystem is under threat. There is a way out: providing new opportunities to earn a living and better education for the indigenous population. Together, Mida Creek and the bordering Arabuko-Sokoke Forest form a UNESCO biosphere reserve. An international environmental organization, A Rocha, is promoting eco-tourism with a social purpose: tourists come to the tropical tidal flats to do some birdwatching.
