Someone might be wondering which is better Dayz Standalone or the Dayz Mod. Well to be fair you really can't compare the two. The Standalone version is building from a new updated version of the ARMA 2 game engine which is letting the dev team expand on the game functions which were not capable in the standard version ARMA 2 we are all use too.
I'm not defending the standalone version, I'm pointing out a simple thing only. Now as far as the Dayz Mod, it is far more polished, and tweaked, and is coming along nicely, actually just not having a full database to craft from, but also build locations (camps, and etc) in the next few versions.
So why would you like to buy Dayz Standalone? Well, the only simple thing that comes to mind is that it's $30.00 dollars, and we have the hope that they will get it right after working on the Dayz mod for so bloody long, and you might not want to spend the $60.00 dollars to buy it when it reaches final alpha.
To be honest, the Dayz Standalone will always be an alpha because that is all they are working on, and they will always be tweaking it, and testing out new things, so don't expect it to be released as a final as we know a final to be, but a final alpha.
Should I purchase ARMA 2 CO, and play the Dayz Mod? That is up to you, but your not bound by the standalone version instead you have ARMA 2 Combined Operations which is a whole game in itself, and be able to play Dayz, and ARMA 2 CO has so many great mods, mission scripts already made for that you will never get tired of the same old thing, so yeah buy it, you will never be bored if tactical shooters is your thing, so it's a win win for you.
