Sisters found murdered in Pittsburgh home; both shot in head

Two adult sisters were found slain in their Pittsburgh home Friday afternoon. Susan, 44, and Sarah, 38, Wolfe, were discovered in their basement, each with a single gunshot wound to the head, reports said.
Concerned colleagues sounded the alert when the women didn't show up at their jobs Friday morning and failed to respond to messages and calls. Police went to their shared home on Chislett Street in East Liberty at around 1:30 p.m. to check up on them. At roughly the same time, Sarah's boyfriend, Matthew Buchholz, who had a key, also arrived, having heard from friends that his girlfriend had been missing.
A friend let the officers into the home where they discovered their bodies lying next to each other in the unfinished basement. The older sister's body was naked and doused in bleach, or a similar cleaning product. The other sister was clothed.
Police said their bodies sustained other injuries, though details were not available. They also refused to confirm or deny whether the women were sexually assaulted. There were no signs of forced entry, and the motive for the killings remains unclear.
Sarah Wolfe's car, a lime green 2011 Ford Fiesta, was found about a mile away on South Whitfield Street between Penn Avenue and Baum Boulevard and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage of the area for clues.
No suspects have been identified in connection with the slayings, though police have ruled out Buchholz as a suspect. The house was broken into shortly after the women moved into the home this winter, though it is not yet known if the crimes are related.
Sarah Wolfe was a psychiatrist at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic and her sister was a teacher's aide at Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh. The sisters came from a family of eight siblings, one of who is Iowa State Representative, Mary Wolfe.
