A 41-year-old woman's body was found in the boot of her vehicle in bushland in the Wollongong, Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. A member of the public saw a white 2003-model Kia Rio sedan parked in the bush at about 2:45pm on Thursday and reported it to the local police. Police arrived at the scene within a short time, but were unable to make contact with the owner of the vehicle. They then left the scene but returned in early evening. After searching the vehicle, they found the owner's body had been shoved into the boot. The victim is believed to be a mother with a 10-year-old son.
Homicide squad detectives are investigating and they have set up a crime scene at the location where the vehicle was found. A second crime scene has been set up at the woman's home on Bligh Street in Wollongong where neighbours found large quantities of blood in the woman's apartment complex stairwell.
