In this guitar lesson, Jon MacLennan will teach you some cool strumming patterns with some basic chords in the style of Van Morrison. If you are a beginner, I suggest that you start learning the chords first. Once you have them down, you can start with learning chord progressions. Don't worry about strumming at this point, just play 4 downstroke for each chord. The next step is learning entire songs, so now you will be getting into strumming.
So, what is strumming? A pattern is a short phrase that it repeats itself, in this case we will have a rhythm pattern.
In this example, we are going to play 4 of the most basic chords with a very easy rhythm pattern. My advice is just do the process I told you before and then try to practice this chord progression very slow at first and increase the speed gradually.
Ok, hope this helps and don´t forget to come up with your own ideas, which is the best advice for starting to find `your´ unique sound and style. That is all for today... Also I suggest that you keep enjoying and learning from Jon MacLennan and all the staff of Guitarcontrol.com! Where? In our free guitar lessons at www.youtube.com/guitarcontrol
