You would be hard pressed to find a place where there are no Muslims nowadays. Finland the Nordic most sparsely populated country in the EU is no exception to this rule. There is a relatively small community of Muslim emigrants and a smaller native converts among the Finns. And yet, this population is by no means a passive community. Far from it, they are actively involved in their society and thus want to be appreciated as such.
In the post 9/11 world, Muslims even in a pacifist country such as Finland, find themselves increasingly on the defensive to prove that Muslims are good people and that they are not extremists following an agenda to gain world domination.
Islam in Finland follows some Finnish Muslims either native or emigrant to document what challenges they have to face in this increasingly Islamophobic world. Yet, they also talk about how they are striving to bring about changes in the views held by people against Islam and Muslims.
