EU hosts Serbia and Kosovo leaders for talks

The EU has hosted the latest in a series of talks between Hashim Thaçi, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, and Serbia’s Prime Minister Ivica Dačić.

The meeting is believed to be an important one for Serbia, which is eager to start official talks on EU membership.

Kosovo declared independence in 2008. The fragile relationship between the two countries has started to improve since an EU-brokered deal agreed in April.

As a result of those negotiations, Serbia was offered EU accession talks, which are expected to begin early next year.
