Footage of the Moon and Earth moving around each other in space has been captured by NASA’s Juno satellite.

Scott Bolton, the chief scientist who worked on the satellite explained the significance of the footage by saying: “…Carl Sagan took a picture he called the Pale Blue Dot, and made a lot of very important points about the fact that everything we know is on this little dot. And I think our movie does the same thing but with a moving image rather than just a still one.”

The Juno satellite was on its way towards Jupiter to capture visuals of the giant gas planet, when it captured the images of the interaction between the celestial bodies which were later edited into a video.

The footage is taken from a million kilometers away , which is about three times the distance from the Earth to the Moon.

Juno was launched a couple of years ago and was making a final pass at Earth to build the gravitational momentum needed to make the trip to Jupiter, where it is expected to arrive in the year 2016.

What do you think about the new footage of the Earth and the moon taken from space?
