Restaurateur Launches Campaign to Buy Redskins

Restaurateur David Chang wants to buy the Washington Redskins and he’s looking for fan contributions to help cover the multi-billion dollar price tag.

David Chang, who’s known for his popular Momofuku restaurants and numerous food show appearances, is looking to expand into football - and he’s not talking about concessions.

Chang wants to buy the Washington Redskins. Given the team’s estimated 6 billion dollar price tag, he knows he can’t do it alone, so he’s looking for fan contributions.

He announced his plan on Twitter, saying he was going to launch a Kickstarter campaign asking people to kick in some cash.

That route fell apart when he learned that the popular fund-procuring site doesn’t allow that sort of thing.

So, he’s back to the drawing board, but hasn’t lost his enthusiasm.

At this time he has no new fundraising schemes, but said he envisions a Green Bay Packers situation in which the fans own the team as being the ideal outcome.

As far as removing the team from its current ownership, Chang proposes, “The only way Snyder would sell is if he starts losing money, and the only way that can happen is if the fans take action. If the fans stop supporting the Redskins, then change will happen.”
