US teacher gunned down in Libya

A US teacher working in Libya has been shot dead.

Ronnie Smith, thought to be originally from Texas, taught chemistry at an international school in the country.

He was reportedly killed whilst out running in a Benghazi suburb.

The city has seen a spike in violence as Libya’s armed forces continue to battle local militia’s and Islamist militants.

No group has yet claimed responsibility fort he attack.
