on 'goodbye uncle tom': the 'slaves' in the film were hatian (and a lot of the filming was in haiti), and could not speak italian or english. they weren't even credited, nor were they properly compensated. despite 'documenting' the horrors/degredation of slavery to the point of realism this is one of the most exploitative films ever made. why françois duvalier (aka 'papa doc') even gave them permission to film this, i will never know.
and the woman who had bananas thrown at her was italian integration minister cecile kyenge, from the congo.
