A Texas craft brewer is in some people’s crosshairs for advertising their Dallas Blonde beer as a beverage that “goes down easy”.

The Deep Ellum Brewing Company has particularly angered a writer for a political blog who says that the slogan fosters a “rape culture”.

She also slams the campaign for its lack of creativity saying, "lazy use of this well-worn sexist comparison of women to alcohol is disappointing and insulting."

That writer isn’t the only one who’s upset.

The brewery’s Facebook page, which features a picture of the company’s bright pink van emblazoned with the slogan alongside the doll-in-a-blond-wig adorned can, has seen its share of angry comments as well.

It’s also brought out a lot of supporters. While some are demanding that the tagline be scrapped, others are applauding its humor and calling it a classic.

Deep Ellum’s owner commented on the controversy, saying that the accusation about furthering rape culture is unwarranted.

He is concerned, however, about offending people.

That doesn’t mean he’s doing away with the van, the slogan, or the artwork.

For now, he’s going to see how the situation plays out.
