For kids, it's the simplest things that matter the most in life.

A child in York, Pennsylvania is now smiling again, just in time for Halloween. 9-year-old Jaiden Newcomer was recently reunited with his giant pumpkin, after a thief swiped it right off the family’s front porch.

Jaiden, who won the 100 pound pumpkin by correctly guessing its weight at a local Oktoberfest celebration was devastated to come home and find his prize missing. However not all was bad news.

The thief decided to return the pumpkin, fully intact, to the Newcomer family. The unknown culprit attached a note to it which read “I'm really sorry about taking your pumpkin. It was wrong of me. You earned the pumpkin. I didn't think my actions through nor realize who they were affecting.”

The pumpkin had originally been stolen on the evening of October 14th. Once news spread about the bizarre theft, several local businesses offered to replace Jaiden’s pumpkin.

Inspired by the thief’s kindness, the Newcomers hope to pay it forward and bake pumpkin pies for those in the area who cannot afford to buy one for the holiday season.
