A special FAA panel has determined that the use of Wi-Fi during flight take-off and landings is perfectly safe.

The group said they found no dangers inherent in using Wi-Fi to run any number of devices or applications..

They’ve gone ahead and recommended that use restrictions be lifted and passengers be allowed to carry on with their game playing, photo posting, and tweeting throughout all stages of their flight.

Cellular use is still completely off the table, though, which, if Wi-Fi use is green-lighted, could create a dilemma for flight attendants.

It’s likely that they are the ones who would be burdened with the nearly impossible task of determining which of the passengers are using the plane’s connection and which are pulling from cell towers.

Even using a tower signal while the plane is taking off wasn’t thought to create much conflict, said the special panel.

It’s unknown how long, if ever, it’ll be before device use restrictions get lifted.

The FAA proper still has to read, consider, and probably test the validity of the report findings before issuing its final decision.
