Purani Dilli: Fusion of Cultures

This video exhibits the hustle bustle of the busy streets of Old Delhi, locally known as Puraani Dilli. Two amused foreigners can be seen walking around the streets taking in the unique charm of the place. Also, amidst all this, globalisation is peaking as we see a FedEx van making its way through the traffic.

Chandni Chowk (चांदनी चौक)(Urdu: چاندنی چوک‎), originally meaning moonlit square or market, is one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi, now in central north Delhi, India. Built in 17th century by the great Mughal emperor of India Shah Jahan and designed by his daughter Jahan Ara, the market was once divided by canals (now closed) to reflect moonlight, and it remains one of India's largest wholesale markets.

Old Delhi (Hindi: पुरानी दिल्ली; Urdu: پُرانی دلّی‎; Purānī Dillī), walled city of Delhi, India, was founded as Shahjahanabad (Persian: شاه جهان آباد) by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in 1639.[1] It remained the capital of the Mughals until the end of the Mughal dynasty.[2][3] It was once filled with mansions of nobles and members of the royal court, along with elegant mosques and gardens. Today, despite having become extremely crowded and dilapidated, it still serves as the symbolic heart of metropolitan Delhi.
