UK Seagulls Getting Drunk Off Flying Ants

Drunken seagulls are causing some trouble in the UK. The birds are becoming increasingly brazen after getting buzzed off a high amount of flying ants.
We've all heard stories about drunk people causing trouble but how about drunk birds? Yes, you heard it right.
Seagulls in the UK are causing trouble after getting drunk on flying ants. The insects morph into formic acid once inside the seagulls’ stomachs and act like alcohol.
Once the birds are intoxicated, they get extremely loud and tear through trash bins. Some residents have reported that they steal food right out of peoples’ hands.
Many of the drunken gulls are left so intoxicated, they fly into structures or into moving vehicles.
Locals are seeing dozens of birds left dead on the ground. One resident stated “As I started driving up the hill, the seagulls were all over the place, pecking in the road. It reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds because there were so many of them - I've never seen it before.”
The effect of the formic acid is one explanation for why the gulls have no desire to move out of the way of cars while feasting on the flying ants.
