Barbara Mason, a Soul / R&B singer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, She recorded and wrote "Yes, I'm Ready" which became Mason's first big hit on the music charts, peaking at number 2 on the Billboard R&B and Soul Singles chart listings and number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart listings in the summer of 1965
This was the first major studio recording that introduce the soulful sweet and lush sound called the "Philly Sound" that became popular during the 1970s. The single was certified gold by RIAA in 1965.
