Legendary England star Ian Botham believes that selectors will not rush Joe Root into an opening role this summer. The Yorkshire batsman, touted as one of the brightest prospects in the game, is currently playing in the middle order for the national team. Many though are calling for him to open alongside Alastair Cook following Nick Compton’s recent patchy form in Test cricket. But Botham feels that England are trying to slowly introduce the 22-year-old into the international fold instead of throwing him in at the deep end ahead of Ashes. read more
