A man gets four years in jail for stealing a dog.

An 18-year-old male named Christopher Young was recently sentenced to four years in prison for stealing a dog. The incident occurred in January, but he pled guilty to the crime in March of 2013.

Young confronted a woman at gunpoint and told her to hand over her pooch that she was walking.

The suspect took possession of the dog and ran away from the scene, however he ended up dropping his cell phone during the departure. The pet owner noticed Young’s gadget on the ground and contacted police. Through the mobile device, officers discovered that the suspect was wearing a GPS equipped ankle bracelet.

As far as the victim goes, the dog was able to get away from Young and run back home.

Last year, two crooks walked into a Long Island pet store and snatched a purebred pup. Video surveillance showed one of the men distracting the clerk while the other thief attempted to open the cash register.
The machine wouldn't budge, so the male picked up a 10-week-old Pomeranian puppy, priced at $1,000, put the animal in his pants and ran out of the shop.
