Thai climber rescues hapless dog stuck on 260ft high waterfall

A hapless dog needed rescuing after getting stuck on a 260ft high waterfall next to raging torrents of water.

The stranded black pooch was seen by eagle-eyed hikers on the Doi Inthanon mountain in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand last Sunday (February 16) afternoon.

Krittanai Phamuang, who went on the trip with his friends, asked locals about the dog and was told that he had been stuck there for a couple of days.

They said they did not know who to contact for help but Krittanai called the emergency services who sent a team of rock climbers to reach the dog.

Footage shows volunteers from the Technical Rope Rescue team rappelling down from the higher cliff to take the dog.

The soaking pooch was finally carried down by the rescuers. He was exhausted but uninjured after the ordeal. Vets then checked him over and have kept him in until his strength recovers.

Krittanai was happy that he could help the dog from the unusual place for it to be stuck.

He said: "I'm still confused about how the dog was stuck up there, but as he's safe now it shouldn't matter any more.

''The dog did well to survive for such a long amount of time without food and in a scary situation. He's lucky he didn't fall down the cliff, because it's very slippy up there.''
