Sahkar Social Welfare Association (SSWA) is a voluntary organization which dedicates its work to the social uplift of the poor, especially from rural areas. SSWA was founded in 1994 by a group of community workers interested in the improvement of the standard of life of the disadvantaged sections of society, particularly the rural masses, through a variety of socio-economic services. The organization stands registered with Directorate of Social Welfare Government of Sindh Pakistan, under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance 1961 (XLVI of 1961) of Pakistan, which deals with local communities and civil societies for their social development and fundamental. The NGO is involved in the socio-economic development activities, on a self-help and participatory basis, particularly in the areas of education, health, HIV/AIDS, against drugs and corruption, against religious extremism, against torture through multidisciplinary approach, peace, equality and social justice, environment, rural & agriculture development, and others with emphasis on child welfare, women development, human rights, etc. The organization seeks to coordinate with the government and other donor agencies for social development in rural and urban areas of Sindh. SSWA is a dynamic platform for different religious and creeds for their better social protection and promotion of their civil rights.
