00:01Welcome to Velocity Sports Performance. Today we're going to go over the broad jump.
00:05During the broad jump, one of the biggest mistakes people make is they do not start on the line.
00:11Broad jumping is an assessment of your lower body explosiveness.
00:15So what we're going to do, we're going to make sure that our toes are right exactly on the line.
00:19When I jump, I'm going to extend fully forward and then I'm going to bring my knees up.
00:24It just looks like this.
00:29You've got to have a firm landing.
00:31A couple things that you can work on to get better.
00:34When you start, our power comes from our legs.
00:38So bending our knees is incredibly important.
00:40A lot of people jump like this and they don't get any power from their legs.
00:45So make sure that you bend your knees and you're driving out forward.
00:49To get a measurable jump, you have to come to a complete stance on your landing.
00:56You can't fall forward or backwards.
00:59It's not going to count.
01:00So you've got to make sure you land with a clean landing.
01:02I'll show you one more time.
01:03Make sure you fully extend out into a straight line.
