00:00I bought discontinued products from our childhood
00:03that my parents wouldn't buy me
00:04because they were either too weird,
00:06too expensive or too dangerous.
00:08I'm saving the most expensive one for last
00:10and I'm starting with one that I think fits
00:12all three of those categories.
00:14From 1993, the McDonald's Happy Meal Magic Shake Maker.
00:19This is like mint condition for being what?
00:2230 years old?
00:23That was 30 years ago.
00:25And yes, I did get this idea from Lucas.
00:28That was kind of expensive for its time
00:29and probably very messy,
00:31but I think the reason my parents wouldn't buy me this one
00:33is because I was a literal infant when this one was popular.
00:36Oh my gosh, why do I feel bad opening this?
00:40This was $125 on eBay.
00:43Let's see if Chef Hope can put this together.
00:46Welcome to the kitchen.
00:47I'm not gonna lie,
00:48the ingredients sound pretty disgusting for this.
00:51Milk, malt mix, and pudding mix.
00:54I feel like it's gonna be less of a shake
00:56and more of like a lukewarm milky drink.
00:59Do you think I need to wash this?
01:00It hasn't been opened in 30 years,
01:03so how dirty can it be, right?
01:05Adorable!
01:06Look how cute these little cups are, are you kidding me?
01:10We have a little straw dispenser.
01:12It's like a real little restaurant straw thing.
01:15Wow, a free royal instant pudding.
01:18How long ago do you think this expired?
01:20No expiration date.
01:22Wait, should I mail it in?
01:24We're sending it in.
01:25Off you go to Del Rio, Texas.
01:28I'll let you guys know if I get anything back.
01:30I'm just gonna give it a quick rinse
01:32so I don't unleash some disease from 1993.
01:35Okay, we're gonna go with happy meal shake recipe number two
01:39for a chocolate shake, milk, chocolate pudding mix, malt mix.
01:44That sounds like it's 30 years old.
01:45Um, it's not doing the best job, I have to say.
01:48Oh!
01:51What happened?
01:51It started coming out.
01:52No! Why is it coming out?
01:54Oh, it's probably like splashing it out.
01:55Looks like they're training kids early
01:57because the shake maker for the doll is always broken.
02:00Okay, I think it's mixed enough.
02:01Time to dispense.
02:03Oh, would you look here?
02:05I have enough cups for the whole team.
02:10And then we put a tiny lid on it.
02:15The cups are really squishy, okay?
02:17All right, this one's gonna go way better, I promise.
02:21Beautiful.
02:22And then we're gonna use both hands.
02:24They're just so like fragile.
02:25It's probably because they're 30 years old.
02:27Okay, that one's perfect.
02:29Okay, ready?
02:31Tastes like Nesquik.
02:32It tastes like a chocolate malt.
02:34I'm not gonna lie, this isn't bad.
02:35It's definitely not a shake by any stretch of the imagination,
02:38but it's pretty good chocolate milk.
02:41We're taking it back to 2001 for this one,
02:43and this product only lasted until 2003 before it was discontinued.
02:47I don't know why though, because I think these were pretty popular.
02:50It is the What's Her Face doll.
02:53These dolls come without a face because you put the faces on them.
02:57This was only $18 on Mercari.
03:00So it comes with all these little stamps, and you can like change their expression.
03:05Oh my gosh, and we got this adorable pink haired one.
03:08I feel like they have them come with glasses on to make them slightly less creepy.
03:12Oh, and she comes with an extra wig?
03:15Wait, what happened to this?
03:18Do you see this makeup brush?
03:19They're like literally disintegrating.
03:22Oh, what?
03:24What the heck is this?
03:26What's Her Face serial killer mask?
03:29Oh my gosh, that scared me.
03:32The wigs are just velcro.
03:34There she is.
03:37Wait, are the markers gonna work?
03:39What if they're all dried out?
03:41There's no way these are gonna work.
03:43Oh wait, is this so you can line it up?
03:45That makes sense.
03:46Okay, moment of truth.
03:48No way.
03:49It works.
03:50I can't believe that.
03:51After all these years.
03:53Okay.
03:55I put it on the wrong side.
03:57Oh no.
03:58You match the shape of the stamp to the shape of the hole on the mask.
04:02So the heart goes in the heart.
04:05Ta-da.
04:05Oh, that one worked.
04:07Okay.
04:08No.
04:09Um, uh-oh.
04:11You know, it's not great.
04:13It's actually really creepy.
04:15Maybe I can fix it.
04:16Oh no.
04:17I mean, it's a fun concept.
04:19Maybe my parents were right about this one.
04:21I think my dolls that already had faces would probably get played with a little bit more than us.
04:26Okay, next.
04:27This next one is a controversial one.
04:30The Wonder Ball.
04:31If you look anywhere on the internet, it all says that they've been banned.
04:34That they're illegal.
04:36But that's not really true.
04:37You could buy them anywhere.
04:39So I don't know if maybe certain stores don't carry them anymore because they're a choking hazard.
04:43They're these chocolate balls that have toys in them.
04:45If you want to get like a vintage one, they're like $60 on eBay.
04:49They probably don't even taste good.
04:50I guess it's more for the toy than anything.
04:52But we found some.
04:54Wait, where are these from?
04:55Joanne.
04:55The fabric store has them?
04:57How illegal can they be?
04:59These are Mario ones.
05:01Oh, it comes with a little coin.
05:03That's adorable.
05:03Let's open our chocolate ball.
05:07Okay, it's not a toy.
05:09It's hard candy.
05:10I bet that's how they got around the band.
05:12Is instead of doing toys in the middle, now they just do hard candies in the middle.
05:16These are from 2021.
05:18They're two years old?
05:19What?
05:20We hit 3 million subscribers.
05:22Can you believe it?
05:24You know what that means.
05:25It's time for a Chanel bag giveaway.
05:28This is a vintage lambskin quilted purse that is worth over $9,000.
05:33And I'm so excited for one of you to get it.
05:34The entry form that you need to fill out to win this is pinned at the top of the comment section.
05:38It's seriously so crazy to me that 3 million of you liked whatever this is.
05:43Enough that you decided I subscribed to more.
05:46So thank you so, so much.
05:48Next up is possibly the most dangerous product in this whole video.
05:53I'm going to take you back to the year 2000.
05:55There were 150 reported injuries.
05:58Mostly of this hitting people in the eye.
06:00But some had cut so bad they had to get stitches.
06:04So let's play with it.
06:06Dang it.
06:07The Sky Dancer.
06:09Look at this and it's original packaging and everything.
06:12You can get these like anywhere for pretty cheap.
06:14But because I wanted one in its original packaging.
06:17It was $140 on Mercari.
06:20Whoa, look how many there were.
06:22This one is called Star Shimmer.
06:25And she says, I really fly.
06:28We know.
06:30No!
06:32Oh no!
06:33You don't launch at people or animals.
06:35Make sure people around you know that you're playing with Sky Dancer.
06:39It was a nice try.
06:40So I actually found an article written about these.
06:43And apparently there was a number that you could call.
06:46And they would give you a free toy of any equal value.
06:50I kind of want to call the number.
06:53It's ringing.
06:56Your call cannot be completed as dialed.
06:58Dang it!
06:59There's her little moon cloud flyer.
07:01Oh wow.
07:02It's like, there's like little rust spots on it.
07:04Don't look at my nails.
07:05Here we go!
07:06I'm trying again, I'm trying again.
07:10Okay, here we go.
07:12Oh!
07:12Wee!
07:13This person almost hit some of the...
07:16Okay, that was a pretty good one.
07:17Let's do one more.
07:19Oh!
07:20I swear there's something about it that goes exactly where it's not supposed to go.
07:25I guarantee I'll do it for a shot outside.
07:27You want to take it outside?
07:28All right, let's see it.
07:29Let's do it.
07:30Oh!
07:31Whoa!
07:33Oh!
07:35That was a good one.
07:36Okay, Sky Dancer's a win.
07:37Petition to unbanned these.
07:39Time for another 2000 snack break.
07:41They are gonna be really expired.
07:44They are the Sour Altoids.
07:47Ah, I'm really interested to see how these taste, because they are...
07:50I don't know, they discontinued with them in 2011, so they're older than that.
07:54I loved these.
07:55These were totally one of those candies that my parents just thought were so dumb
07:59and so expensive, because I would eat them all in one sitting.
08:02But they're so good.
08:04So I remember in like junior high and high school,
08:06when I finally had my own money, I would buy them all the time.
08:12No!
08:16How did that happen?
08:18This is the saddest day of my whole life.
08:20Do you guys want to know the worst part of this?
08:21I paid $45 for these on eBay.
08:24The seller did have a warning in the description, to be fair.
08:27I just missed that somehow.
08:28They were little hard candies in the shape of berries,
08:30and they had this like powder on them.
08:33I'm not gonna lie, it still tastes good.
08:35They kind of taste...
08:36Oh, oh no.
08:37No, it doesn't.
08:38Ooh, weird taste.
08:39Okay, 10 out of 10 don't recommend 12-year-old candy.
08:43This next one was like the 2000s toy.
08:47It's actually been around since the 60s.
08:49I didn't realize that.
08:50But it had its biggest recall in 2006.
08:53This article says,
08:54a snappy redesign resulted in a trap that snagged small hands near the heating elements,
08:59causing second and third degree burns.
09:01It's the Easy Bake oven!
09:04Oh my goodness.
09:06I feel like these were like pretty expensive back in the day.
09:09I mean, even now I feel like they're kind of expensive.
09:11I think this was like 150 bucks.
09:132015, I think this is the newest version of one.
09:16And we're gonna bake mini food!
09:18Wait, I didn't have an Easy Bake back in the day,
09:20but I did have a Shrinky Dink machine.
09:22Does anybody remember those?
09:24You'd make these little Shrinky Dinks.
09:26I don't...
09:27That's what they were.
09:28Time for Chef Hope.
09:29Welcome back to Hope's Kitchen!
09:31Red Velvet Strawberry Cake.
09:32Mini Whoopie Pies.
09:33Cheese Pizza.
09:34The pizza's in here.
09:36This seems too good to be true.
09:38The oven.
09:40Yay!
09:41It's so cute!
09:42It's very like 2000s vibes.
09:44Pizza dough mix.
09:46Marinara mix.
09:47Egg wash mix.
09:49Garlic cheese.
09:50They literally have everything.
09:53Oh!
09:53The light turned on!
09:54Did you see?
09:54Did you see?
09:55I was supposed to fit six pizzas on this.
09:58How?
09:59There they are.
10:00It's so cute!
10:00Flatten.
10:01Flatten.
10:02This smells weird too,
10:03but that's what the recipe called for.
10:05Spread marinara on top.
10:08It's the weirdest texture.
10:09It's a little bit uncomfortable to be honest.
10:11Oh, you're supposed to like squeeze the cheese out like frosting.
10:15That's weird.
10:15I don't want to do that.
10:16Okay.
10:17I think that's good.
10:19Oh dear.
10:20Time to bake for 14 minutes.
10:22That's kind of a long time.
10:26Three,
10:27two,
10:28one.
10:29There it...
10:33I'm not gonna lie.
10:34They kind of look ridiculous.
10:35Expectation versus reality.
10:40Wow, you can really taste the dough.
10:43Tastes like a pizza chip.
10:44Oh, it's not bad.
10:45Was it worth spending 30 minutes of my life on?
10:47Definitely not.
10:48So for that reason,
10:49I'm just going to do you a favor and fast forward through this whole cake making process.
10:52Although this one turned out a lot cuter than the pizza.
10:55We have a cake!
10:57This is such a Valentine's-y cake.
11:00Wow.
11:01Okay, this one turned out like a box.
11:04Let's eat the cake.
11:07Wow, it tastes like an actual cake.
11:09All right, so many of you guys have been begging me to get Leo a sibling.
11:13Today's the day.
11:14Lee, are you ready?
11:16We're going back again to the year 2000.
11:18This product only lasted two years, but I always wanted one.
11:21Oh my goodness!
11:24Look at this!
11:25Look at the packaging!
11:26Oh my gosh, this is such a cute one.
11:27It's Poochie, the OG interactive puppy.
11:30This one is 101 Dalmatians themed.
11:32So this was $59.95 on eBay.
11:35Back in the day, they were $24.99.
11:37It inflated with inflation a little bit.
11:39So I actually did have a Technopup, which was the more popular version.
11:44That one actually sold for way longer.
11:46There she is!
11:47Yes!
11:48Oh my goodness!
11:50It's like discolored on this side.
11:52Can you see that?
11:53How it's kind of yellowed?
11:54Three AAAs.
11:58Lee, did you hear that?
11:59Let me put the cover back on.
12:04Oh, it's moving!
12:05Ah, stop!
12:06There it is.
12:08Okay, how do I-
12:09Oh, there is a sound sensor.
12:12Can you actually-
12:12Oh!
12:14Is that how it walks?
12:18Okay, maybe I can see why this only lasted two years.
12:23It's a bomb!
12:24All right, it's slowing down.
12:29Oh, it looks really cute up there.
12:33Except for when it like randomly goes off during my other videos.
12:36Okay, these next couple ones I'm so excited for.
12:39They were really popular in the early 2000s.
12:41A video now!
12:43You know what these remind me of?
12:44When schools would do like fundraisers and the more stuff you sold,
12:48the cooler of a prize you got.
12:49I feel like this was one of them, but I could never sell enough stuff to get one.
12:52But now I have one.
12:53It's basically like a little CD player that has a tiny TV built into it.
12:58It's this cute pink one.
13:00And let's see, this comes with a bunch of Nickelodeon ones.
13:03We've got Jimmy Neutron, Spongebob.
13:06That's so cool.
13:08Peel this off.
13:09Yes!
13:10Here we go.
13:13It's working!
13:15Video now is the best portable mini video disc player ever.
13:19It's so bad.
13:20Oh, it skips so easily.
13:24It's literally 80 by 80 pixels and in black and white.
13:27The latest technology.
13:29Here's your bonus Spongebob Squarepants episode.
13:32Never before seen.
13:33It's such bad quality.
13:34The sound is actually pretty good.
13:36I'm impressed by the sound.
13:37The video, I can see how this technology got a little outdated after literally two years,
13:42but it's a fun concept.
13:44Okay, it's snack time again.
13:45We're throwing it back, not quite as far this time, to 2014.
13:50To something that I was never able to try, but today's the day.
13:54The Wonka Peel-A-Pops.
13:56These are the most bizarre popsicle I've ever seen.
13:59I don't even really understand what they're made of or how they work, but I need one.
14:03The problem is, they don't make them anymore.
14:05I'm not sure when they got discontinued.
14:08I think like 2015 or 16.
14:10So today, we're making it from scratch.
14:14This is gonna be really interesting.
14:15So to be honest, I have no idea what the outside of the Peel-A-Pop is even made of,
14:19but it reminds me of mochi ice cream.
14:22So that's what I'm gonna be doing, is taking a banana creamy and rolling it in mochi,
14:27and I think we can create that banana peel effect.
14:30One cup of mochico flour, fourth a cup of sugar, and one cup of water.
14:35I'm gonna add some purple food coloring in too, because I want the purple Peel-A-Pop.
14:39Now we're gonna microwave this a little bit to get it the mochi texture that we want.
14:44Guys, I think this is gonna work.
14:46There it is. I think it's time to put our creamy in the middle of it now.
14:50It has just been brought to my attention that you don't all know what creamies are.
14:53I didn't realize it was just a North Midwest thing.
14:57Oh my gosh, it's gonna work.
14:59Oh, it's like starting to melt already though.
15:02It looks like a weird corn dog.
15:04Okay, I'm gonna throw it in the freezer, be right back.
15:06Look at it.
15:07We'll just cut through the mochi a little bit.
15:11Are you ready for the peel?
15:13Oh my gosh, that's so cool.
15:17Let's peel more of it.
15:18Wait, this is the coolest thing I've ever made.
15:20Forget the Blake Lively dress.
15:21Guys, we made a Peel-A-Pop.
15:26Yes, that's amazing actually.
15:29All right, are you guys ready for the most expensive and hopefully the coolest thing?
15:35Oh my gosh.
15:36Okay, so when I was younger, I always wanted my own computer or laptop and this was the laptop.
15:44This was on eBay for $465.
15:48It's the original Apple iBook.
15:52Look at this thing.
15:53So we have the original box, but it's not like new unsealed in the box.
15:57If that were the case, I think this thing would be thousands of dollars.
16:00The iBook Blueberry, it's so cute.
16:04And is this the power cord?
16:07It's adorable.
16:08It's so heavy.
16:10I'm interested to see if everything's intact.
16:13Oh wow, it looks like it is.
16:16All right, time to see if this thing will power up.
16:18Okay, it's literally been like two seconds and I think it's already powering up.
16:21Let's see.
16:22Oh, there it is.
16:24Oh, it's loading.
16:25I feel like all the shows that we had growing up, all the characters would always have like cute,
16:30colorful laptops and phones.
16:32So I always wanted something like this.
16:35Here it is.
16:36Like what could you even do on this in 2000?
16:39What year is this from?
16:401999.
16:42Is there games or something?
16:44Wait, will it connect to our Wi-Fi?
16:46Oh my goodness.
16:46Let's try it.
16:47Oh, that's freaking out.
16:48Error, error, error.
16:51Look at this old internet explorer though.
16:54Oh, look at the chest.
16:55This is actually really good graphics.
16:58We even tried to physically plug this into our Wi-Fi and it still wouldn't connect,
17:01unfortunately, but we did find Amelie's library that somehow got left on this
17:05computer and it's like weirdly modern music.
17:08I was going to do another 2000 themed giveaway,
17:10but I figured you guys don't really have a use for a 1999 iBook.
17:13So instead we're going to do a Pop Flex giveaway.
17:16In my last YouTubers giveaway, this was the brand you guys were the most excited about.
17:20So I decided I'm going to give 15 of you one of my favorite hoodies,
17:24as well as a $100 Pop Flex gift card to finish the outfit however you want.
17:28Go over to my Instagram at HopeScope and find that post to see how to win.
17:32We think that you'd like to watch the video where I bought 2000s inspired viral products
17:36from TikTok if you haven't seen that one yet.
17:38Enjoy the next video!
