So we will be going over My Hero Academia Chapter 5-11 or Episodes 5-8. Where we get Introduced to the Main class and see some of their Quirks abilities. And we See their Homeroom teacher being Aizawa who has a pretty broken Quirk. With the Main Meat of this chunk Being the fight between Bakugo and Izuku. I hope you all enjoy.

00:00Welcome back everyone. Today in this review, Izuku has to figure out how to better control
00:14his quark. We get more characterization for Bakugou, and get introduced to all of their
00:20classmates as well. Hope you guys are ready, so let's get into it. We open with the staff of UA
00:27judging everyone who passed, with Bakugou looking promising with how he came in first place and never
00:33got tired throughout the whole exercise. But Izuku was less promising, coming in seventh even though
00:40he defeated the zero point villain, he damaged himself too much and some already see him as a
00:46failure. He meets up with All Might after getting his acceptance letter and tells him that he did
00:51not tell anyone about their relationship, and he wasn't a judge so there was no favoritism
00:56in him getting in. Izuku still worries that he can't control his powers, but All Might reassures
01:02him that his body will adapt to the power eventually, as he learns how to use it, but he does have to
01:10start out small in what he can do. And that the flame of one for all will blaze even hotter than
01:17his does. Ending their conversation by saying that his flame will slowly fade as time goes on as well.
01:23Izuku then makes his way to his first day in UA, and as soon as he enters, he sees the two guys he
01:31least wanted to see, Iida and Bakugou. But luckily, Uraraka is in his class as well, and she is very happy
01:40to see that he passed and that they are in the same class. We get a short flashback of Bakugou from when
01:47they were both accepted, with him trying to bully Izuku into going somewhere else, but for the first
01:53time, he stood up to him. As the class socializes, their homeroom teacher Aizawa introduces himself,
02:01and tells everyone to get their gym clothes on. He wants them to do the standard fitness tests, but
02:06now he wants them to use their quirks, since they were not allowed to before. To show this off,
02:13he uses Bakugou as an example of how much quirks can change the results with him throwing a ball,
02:20that he then throws 10 times farther than he did without his quirk, and he tells them that whoever
02:26gets the lowest overall score from the tests, he will expel them. We then get demonstrations of some
02:34of the classmate's quirks, but I will go over them in the discussion section. Izuku, seeing that he is
02:41not doing well, flashes back to him talking with All Might on how to control his power, and he
02:47described when he used 100% that it felt like his limbs were an egg that exploded in a microwave,
02:54so All Might simply tells him that he has to turn down the power on it so the egg doesn't explode.
03:00But he first used them only three weeks ago, and he hasn't used his powers since then. Seeing that he
03:07is getting a low grade in each test, he decides to use his power on the ball-throwing test, but it doesn't work.
03:23And that is because, Aizawa has a quirk to shut off other quirks, just by looking at them. He then explains that he stopped him because he would've broken his arm again, and in a real hero situation,
03:35he would be useless after using his quirk once, and just be another person to save.
03:41So he lets him go again with his quirk, but this time, he is presuming that he will fail him.
03:48Racking his brain on how to pass, Izuku is able to concentrate his quirk into just one finger, and throws it just as far as Bakugo did.
03:58Impressing Aizawa with how fast he adapted his quirk to still allow him to be useful afterwards.
04:04Of course, seeing this for the first time, Bakugo can't believe he actually has a quirk,
04:10and charges him, wanting to know how something like this happened.
04:14But Aizawa stops him, of course, and he begrudgingly calms down.
04:19With the rest of the tests going by, and once it's finished, Izuku was the lowest scoring.
04:25But, Aizawa then says that he was lying about expelling them, and it was just to motivate them more.
04:33He sends Izuku to the nurse's office to get healed, and is confronted by All Might, saying that he did expel students before,
04:40so he must see some kind of talent in Izuku.
04:44And he just simply says that he doesn't have no chance in becoming a hero.
04:49So you're telling me there's a chance?
04:53Yeah!
04:55With him and other students walking home together after school,
04:58we then go to the day where we see some of their more normal school life,
05:04until we get to basic hero training that will be conducted by All Might,
05:08and will involve battle training,
05:10along with getting their hero costumes that have already been made in advance.
05:15And we get to see a shot of all the students in their costumes.
05:19We start the next chapter with a short explanation of how the students ordered their costumes,
05:25and we get to see that Izuku's was handmade by his mother.
05:29All Might then explains that the exercise this session will involve two people teams facing off with each other,
05:35with one being the heroes, and the others being the villains.
05:39The heroes win by either capturing both the villains, or by capturing the weapon the villains are guarding.
05:45And the villains could win by capturing the heroes, or by running the timer out.
05:50Izuku is on the team with Uraraka as the heroes,
05:53and they are going up against Iida and Bakugo as the villains.
05:57And as soon as the training starts, Bakugo goes straight after them,
06:01leaving Iida to protect the weapon.
06:04But Izuku manages to read his movements and flip him over,
06:08with him truly standing up to Bakugo, declaring that he won't be his punching bag anymore.
06:14We then get a quick flashback on when they were friends,
06:17and how Bakugo started to go down the path he is currently on.
06:22But since he is obsessed with Izuku, he is easily led away from Uraraka,
06:27who continues forward to the weapon.
06:30And we get another flashback from Bakugo,
06:32but I will get more into it in the discussion section of the video.
06:35The gist of it is that he thinks Izuku should not be as important as he is currently.
06:41Uraraka finally gets to Iida,
06:44and he made sure to counter her by removing anything in the room
06:48that she could have levitated, putting her in a bind.
06:51While Bakugo finds Izuku and uses one of the abilities in his suit
06:56to basically store up his explosive sweat and release it in a huge attack,
07:01blowing up a large part of the building they are in.
07:05Uraraka then uses this distraction to make herself float to grab the weapon.
07:10But with Iida's quirk, he is able to outspeed her,
07:14carrying the weapon off to be out of her reach.
07:17All Might tells Bakugo not to use that kind of attack again,
07:20because it's a bad move to use such a destructive ability indoors.
07:26So this of course frustrates him, but he just goes back to beating on Izuku.
07:31They then go to full-on clash with Izuku using his power,
07:35but he ends up blocking the hit and aims his punch upwards,
07:40destroying the top floor's floor,
07:42making Uraraka able to use her quirk to attack Iida and secure the weapon, winning them the game.
07:48Afterwards, All Might announces that Iida is the MVP of the game,
07:53and I would honestly have to agree.
07:55We get some scenes with the other students and skip to when everything is finished,
07:59with All Might leaving, since he's about to run out of time in his muscle form.
08:04We do get some new info that the only people who know about One For All are Izuku,
08:11the principal, recovery girl, and a close friend of his that we won't be introduced to until a while into the story,
08:18with all the other staff just knowing about his injury and skinny form.
08:23Izuku gets back to class with everyone wanting to talk to him,
08:27but they say Bakugo already left, so Izuku goes to catch up to him before he leaves school.
08:33And he partially tells him about his quirk, but gets cut off by Bakugo,
08:38admitting that he did lose to him and that there are others in the class that are better than him,
08:45so he proclaims that he will become better and beat all of them.
08:49Then with him leaving, we end off the chapter seeing a glimpse of the villains getting prepared to kill All Might.
08:56For the stuff that the anime added, episode 5, I liked the effect that they use for Aizawa when he uses his quirk,
09:05and animation-wise, the only things that stood out were Bakugo's throw and Izuku's throw.
09:11In episode 6, we get more 8-bit-like animation for All Might's explanation of the rules, which, again, is pretty cool looking.
09:19Episode 7, I would say there was nothing too special here animation-wise,
09:24with the best animations being a few shots where Bakugo was beating up Izuku and using his explosions on him throughout it.
09:32With episode 8, I thought how they portrayed Bakugo's panic attack in realizing Izuku is stronger than him was very well done.
09:42Then we got to see a bit more of the other students doing their own matches,
09:45since in the manga, most of them were just single panels.
09:49For the extras, the back cover of Volume 1 has Art of Mount Lady advertising her own hair product,
09:55and some basic advice from Kamui Woods about recycling and disposing of your trash properly.
10:01Volume 2's cover has Bakugo and Izuku facing off against each other,
10:06and at the end of Volume 1, we get drawings from all of his assistants drawing their own heroes,
10:11which is a cool thing to do to show appreciation for them.
10:15At the beginning of Volume 2, we get an author's note talking about how he likes to draw hands,
10:21which is crazy because most artists hate it.
10:24But he says he likes it because besides the face, the hands are the most expressive body part.
10:30And a certain character in the volume has made drawing hands a real hassle,
10:35and I think we know who that is.
10:41Next, I will be going over all of the volume info cards, with Iida being the first,
10:46with Hirokoshi saying that he was made late into development of the story,
10:51and his quirk was supposed to belong to a pro hero.
10:54With him adding that he enjoys drawing him the most out of all the characters.
10:59Aizawa is next, with him saying that he just thought of what an extremely rational person would look like
11:07that did not care how society would view him.
11:10Present Mike's info card says that he was born because originally the announcer was just going to be a plain old man,
11:17so he wanted to spice things up and created Present Mike.
11:22Aoyama's card just says he's fun to draw.
11:25Hagakure, the invisible girl, originally started out as a guy,
11:29but he thought she would be more interesting as a girl.
11:32Todoroki's tells us that he was one of the first classmates he came up with,
11:37and that he has a lot to him, but it will be revealed later.
11:40Chapter 6 has a UAE class profile of Izuku with some notes being that Hirokoshi likes to draw his shoes,
11:49his tie is not done well, and to my memory he never gets better at doing it,
11:55and that his tear ducts are always on duty, and yes, yes they are.
12:01We get some art of Suyu and Uraraka with Izuku in the background.
12:07For Chapter 9, we get a colored page of Izuku and Bakugo fighting.
12:11Chapter 10 has a UAE student profile of Bakugo,
12:14mostly just telling us that he is very explosive and that his sweat is like nitroglycerin,
12:21meaning that he is stronger in the summer and has a slower ramp up time in the winter.
12:26Alright, first let's get to the students who did not do much in this chunk of the story.
12:32Koda, who has a rock-like head, but that's all we know about him for now.
12:37Sato, who just seems to have super strength.
12:40Ojiro, with his quark being his large tail.
12:44Hagakure, with her just being able to be invisible.
12:48Mineta, who has grape-like hair, but we will get into him next video.
12:53Jiro, who has earphone plugs that will help her listen to vibrations.
12:59Kaminari, who has electricity powers.
13:02Tokoyami, who has some kind of shadow ability.
13:05Suyu, who has frog-like powers.
13:08Kirishima, whose powers seem to be hardening.
13:12Sero, being able to produce tape and kinda be like Spider-Man.
13:16Aoyama, being able to shoot lasers out of his stomach.
13:20Mina, who is able to produce acid.
13:22And Shoji, whose quark name is Dupla Arms, which make him able to produce different body parts on the tips of his six arms.
13:30The parts we see being hands, ears, and mouths he can speak through.
13:34Then getting on to the recommendation kits.
13:37Momo shows why she was recommended.
13:40With her being able to break down the battle at the same level as All Might.
13:44Who is a multi-decade season hero.
13:47And Todoroki, who seems to have gotten in by the sheer amount of power he has.
13:52Being able to freeze an entire building, along with being able to melt all the ice as well.
13:59Showing that he is the most powerful student in the class at this point.
14:04Uraraka did not do much in this chunk, mainly having to deal with Iida.
14:08And showing how strong her power is by wielding a stone column like a baseball bat.
14:14And showing a new aspect of her powers by making herself float, and not just other objects.
14:20Along with showing that her powers also don't have a range limit,
14:24because it seems she threw the testing ball out of orbit.
14:28Then with Iida, we find that his quirk is named Engine.
14:41Basically giving him a form of super speed from the engines in his calves.
14:46And like they said, he did the best in the exercise overall.
14:51Taking his opponent's quirk into account, and tried to counter it as best he could.
14:56And I do have to say, his costume is probably the best one out of everyone in the class.
15:03Moving on to the homeroom teacher, Aizawa.
15:06Whom has a pretty broken quirk by being able to cancel out other quarks by just looking at them.
15:14But the downside is that that effect goes away once he blinks.
15:19And they never say this in the series, but he seems to have slight telekinesis
15:24with how he can manipulate his bandit scarf.
15:27But he does seem to be a strict teacher, because he was actually going to kick Izuku out
15:33if he truly did not have any chance of succeeding.
15:36And I do really like his design, with him probably being the character I look most like in the series.
15:43Along with me having a similar personality.
15:46All Might also didn't have much of a big part here,
15:49since he is still getting used to becoming a teacher.
15:52With somebody as great as he fumbling around with how he taught,
15:57and not stopping the match after Bakugo did his huge explosion,
16:01because I think it would have been justified to stop it there.
16:05With how much the building was damaged, and how crazy Bakugo was getting.
16:10But we saw, even though he tries to restrain himself, he does have a bias for Izuku.
16:17And it ended up turning alright in the end.
16:21Like last video, I'm going to have a lot to say about Bakugo and Izuku.
16:25We got a more in-depth explanation of Bakugo's quark,
16:28which is that his sweat is similar to nitroglycerin, that he can then detonate at will.
16:34With his hero costume, I'm guessing it makes him sweat more,
16:38and as we saw, lets him build up his sweat into the gauntlets he has,
16:43to make an explosion ten times or even greater than what he can normally generate.
16:49A very smart design, and again, shows his intelligence.
16:53And we saw his battle IQ is very high as well with some of his moves he pulled off.
16:59But his intelligence gets blinded by his rage, which we should get into.
17:04We got even more backstory on him and Izuku's childhood,
17:08with Bakugo legitimately being a very talented child even before getting his quark.
17:14Then, once he finally got his quark, seeing how he can create explosions,
17:19he was elated, as any child would be.
17:22And a year or so after, he sees that Izuku did not get a quark.
17:27Which makes him look down on him even more, since he was always the weak link in their friend group.
17:34And their friend group kept Izuku around because it made them feel better about themselves,
17:39with Bakugo leading them, thinking everyone else is normal,
17:43with an even lesser person, in his eyes, being the punching bag.
17:48And for the first time, we actually see his anger that he always has in the present.
17:53And it developed when Izuku offered to help him.
17:58And the fact someone as lowly as him would think someone as great as he is in need of his help,
18:05made him think Izuku was looking down on him and thought he was weak.
18:10And he hung on to that anger and resentment all the way up till now.
18:15With it flaring up again, when he sees Izuku does have a quark with him thinking the only logical explanation
18:23was that he always had it, but never showed it to him because he thought he was better than him,
18:30and to play mind games with him.
18:32When he was put up against him in the team battle,
18:35he still had a huge enough ego where he did not really care about the exercise,
18:40and was fixated on Izuku, nearly killing him and inflicting pretty severe injuries onto him.
18:47Only realizing once he lost that if they fought to the death,
18:52the little pebble in the road that he once thought was useless would kill him.
18:58With his ego being destroyed even more when he saw what Todoroki could do,
19:03because like he said, he knows he could not beat him,
19:07showing even without Izuku being there, he still would not have been the top dog.
19:13And luckily what he took from this experience was that he needs to work even harder to become a great hero.
19:20Because when I first read these chapters,
19:24I am sure me and a lot of other people thought Bakugo might have become a villain in the future.
19:30All right, Izuku will finish things off like usual.
19:34I first want to talk about his costume,
19:36since it was sweet he wears a suit that his mom made for him,
19:40even though it got absolutely destroyed in the fight with Bakugo.
19:45And the design of the two antennae looking like All Might's hair,
19:49and the face guard having the pattern of a smile on it was cute.
19:53But even All Might thought it was a little too obvious it was inspired by him.
19:58But now I want to start with his childhood and his friend group.
20:03Even though he was picked on in the group like the other kids,
20:07he was amazed by how awesome Bakugo was.
20:11And like most people, they want to stay near people like that,
20:14because they in turn might become better by being their friend.
20:19Of course we see this didn't last,
20:21but even now he does still think Bakugo is amazing,
20:25and doesn't seem to carry much hatred for him at all.
20:29With it being shown as a kid, even though he was bullied by him,
20:33when Bakugo fell,
20:35Izuku did not sit there like the other kids wondering if he was okay.
20:39He immediately went down to help,
20:42just in case he was hurt.
20:44Then coming back to the present,
20:46we see that when he is backed into a corner,
20:49he was able to advance his control of his core,
20:52by focusing the energy into his fingers.
20:56But I would say this still isn't a large leap in his power,
21:00since he still gets hurt,
21:02and it would not work in a long drawn out fight.
21:06And I like that he tried to beat Bakugo without his powers,
21:09because he came pretty close to winning.
21:12And his one use of his ability was smart,
21:15factoring in his teammates' ability.
21:17And unlike Bakugo,
21:19he was looking at how to complete the mission,
21:22just not his personal grudge with his rival.
21:25And I have to say,
21:26he got a little too much in his emotions
21:28with how he almost revealed his powers to Bakugo.
21:32And to be honest,
21:33just about anyone could put together
21:37that he got his powers from All Might.
21:40Since they both have strength enhancement,
21:42they both came into the school at the same time,
21:45and Izuku's costume is an imitation of All Might's iconic look.
21:50But he was angry at the time,
21:52and he is still a kid,
21:53so I wouldn't imagine him putting it together anytime soon.
21:58And of course next time will probably be even longer than this one,
22:03because I will be finishing up Season 1,
22:06and I will have the new villains to talk about as well.
22:10Along with analyzing the first opening and ending to the series.
