00:00Onto the eighth and final stage of Paris-Nice 2025, and finally a bit of blue sky after a week of battling the elements.

00:09Matteo Jorgensen has a 37-second lead over Florian Lippovitz at the top of the general classification,

00:15but we've come to expect the unexpected on the final day in Nice,

00:19and the American who lives in the city knows nothing will be settled until he crosses that finish line.

00:26I think we'll see every team try today. It's a short race, last day of the week.

00:31There's a lot of teams that haven't had a stage win, and there's also a big fight in the top ten for each of the placings,

00:37so I think we'll see a lot of racing today.

00:41It's set to be a chaotic stage then, and lots of riders will fancy their chances.

00:46While some will be eyeing up stage glory on the Promenade des Anglais,

00:50others will be hoping to improve their GC prospects or trying to defend their current position.

00:56Yeah, anything can happen, to be honest. It can change a lot in this last stage.

01:01I wish I had the legs, I hope I have the legs to do something,

01:05but I think if somebody attacks, it's always up and down, so it's everybody for themselves.

01:12It's going to be a hard one, but for sure the strongest rider will win.

01:16At just 120km, Stage 8 will be short and explosive,

01:21with climbs up the Col de la Porte, the Côte de Paix, the Col d'Aize and the Col du Quatre Chemins.

01:27It will definitely sting the legs, and any success will have to be earned.

01:31Prepare for an unpredictable and spectacular finale.

01:39I'm pleased to report, as you can see, the sky is blue.

01:43It's wonderful, the sun is shining, the sun is out.

01:46Well, as well as being sunny, the start today was fast and furious, and this man was on a mission.

01:51Mads Pedersen leading the peloton down the descent of the first climb,

01:55having tried to get in all the early moves.

01:57The former world champion looking to secure victory in the points classification

02:01by being first to the intermediate sprint on the Col d'Aize, and he was willing to take some risks.

02:07Oh, look at the way that Mads Pedersen just uses the whole road.

02:14Well, Pedersen had built a gap of more than a minute as they embarked on the final 50k,

02:19and he was soon leading the way onto the Col de Paix, 6.5k at 6.9%.

02:25Well, Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe then decided to shake things up in the main bunch,

02:29sending Alexander Vlasov up the road.

02:38Well, Vlasov heading off in pursuit of Pedersen as his teammate Lipovits tried to go as well,

02:43but Jorgensen was marking the Germans every move.

02:52Well, Felix Galle also attacked, and shortly before the summit,

02:56he and Vlasov caught up with Pedersen at the front.

03:00That trio went over the top with around 15 seconds over the yellow jersey group,

03:04containing a dozen or so riders.

03:10Well, just before the intermediate sprint,

03:12the three leaders were joined by a fourth man, Magnus Sheffield.

03:16Well, a little further back, Jorgensen had decided that attack was the best form of defense.

03:23As now Jorgensen is starting to ride away from his closest rivals.

03:30Pedersen taking 10 precious points at the intermediate sprint

03:33enough to secure that green jersey and then pushing on with Sheffield.

03:39Well, they had dropped Galle and Vlasov, who were soon joined by Jorgensen.

03:43The final climb of the Col de Quatre Chemin was a climb too many though for Pedersen

03:48as Sheffield went solo at the front.

03:51The chasers soon passing the green jersey as well.

03:55Sheffield looking strong, but it wasn't a done deal just yet

03:58because he had Jorgensen on his tail.

04:00The two Americans fighting all the way to the Promenade des Anglais,

04:03but Sheffield had enough in the tank to hold off the yellow jersey

04:07and the champion elect of Paris Nice.

04:09A thrilling end to a superb race.

04:15The final stage of Paris Nice belongs to Magnus Sheffield.

04:19He takes his first WorldTour victory.

04:23The INEOS Grenadiers certainly livened things up this week.

04:26First with Tobias Voss, then in the crosswinds and finally here in Nice.

04:30Their reward was an overall podium for Timon Arendtsman

04:33and fourth place for an emotional Magnus Sheffield,

04:36delighted to finally land his first WorldTour win.

04:42I've been second so many times now.

04:46It's my first victory at the WorldTour level.

04:50It means so much.

05:06Sheffield taking his fourth career win ahead of Jorgensen

05:09who came from the same development team, Hot Tubes.

05:12Gale finished second.

05:14I was so well supported this week.

05:16Today, I was pretty isolated.

05:18We knew that was going to be the case with our Jonas here in the mountains.

05:21But the rest of the week, we took full advantage

05:24of having a really strong team on the flats

05:26and just tactically and positioning.

05:31Everyone was committed.

06:02despite the loss of his teammate Jonas Vingegaard.

06:04Lippovitz and Arendtsman complete the podium

06:07while Schompassin was the highest placed Frenchman

06:09in seventh overall.

06:12Pedersen had a superb end to this Paris-Renaissance

06:15winning stage six in the crosswinds

06:17then collecting enough points in the mountains

06:19to take green ahead of Jorgensen.

06:21Tim Melia withdrew on the final day.

06:25Tomagashinya goes home with the polka dot jersey

06:28with none of the top KOM contenders taking points today.

06:31Stora and Almeida were second and third in that classification.

06:36Finally, Lippovitz, the overall runner-up

06:38dominated the Best Young Rider competition.

06:43by just over a minute from Sheffield.

06:47And so the curtain falls on this 83rd Paris-Renaissance

06:50which lived up to all its promises
