Oval Filmemacher has an international reputation for quality
and innovation in factual programming. We supply broadcasters
all over Europe with stories set in North America, Europe and Asia,
and have earned a reputation for creative story development, top-notch
production values and strong marketing.
Oval Filmemacher specializes in international co-productions, tailored to meet the needs of non-fiction TV slots in different countries. These productions range from dynamic coverage of current affairs to long-term, in-depth documentaries.
Right now we are working on a German-British co-production about the worldwide mission effort of fundamentalist Christians during the soccer world cup in Germany. We also currently produce "Leeches and Maggots – disgusting and healthy”, a two part television series (2 x 45’) about the revival of the little healers in modern medicine.
Previous efforts have earned Oval Filmemacher wide acclaim. In 2003, "Half a Chance?", a humorous documentary about French film distributors trying to hide the nationality of German films in France earned Oval the talent award of the 2003 German-French Journalism Prize. Our staff has been nominated for the Grimme Award, First Prize of Sehsüchte Babelsberg and an Academy award.
Highlights of our recent output include the ARTE documentary Human Capital: the Employment Trade, about the global labor market, and two documentaries about American Evangelicals' extensive efforts to convert New Yorkers and Europeans. These two were used together for a ZDF/ARTE theme evening.
We have worked with a wide range of television networks worldwide, and excel at meeting the needs of documentary broadcasters. In addition to ARTE and ZDF, stations that have used our work include ARD, WDR, SWR, NDR, FAB, RTL, and ZDF in Germany; France 3 and Mezzo in France; ERT in Greece; Tango TV in Luxembourg; YLE in Finland and FSTV in the USA.
