Biography
James’s first passion is Violin, he started playing at four being born into a family of violin players. After some time away from violin in his early teens he played violin and bass in bands, playing his first gig at 13 at the Hare & Hounds, Birmingham. James came back to Violin after realizing his infinity to the instrument 10 years ago. James had some classical training as a child but is mainly self taught. He has studied some advanced modern violin techniques from his Father, Mike Burnham. This comes across in his style, a mixture of classical, jazz-fusion, folk inspired from the music he grew up with. James says that although I would have loved to continue classical training I think that it has given me the ability to be free and improvise.

He is currently gigging with Ben River, Akahum, Hey Zues and Gnawa UK. Some of the venues and festivals James has had the pleasure to play include the Victoria & Albert museum, The Roundhouse, Waveform, Alchemy festival plus many more impromptu performances at venues across the UK. Playing with such a variety of bands from different parts of the globe and styles of music have helped James to become a versatile violist that is comfortable playing classical, jazz to folk, indian/Arabic music to electronic dance fuelled bands like Akahum.

James has released his first Album, First green to gold. Available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Emusic, Rdio & Deezer.

Green to Gold remixs, tracks chosen and remixed by by Artist Rootzu, soon to be available on all the above outlets.
