Dragan Lazovic Gongo was born on 2 December in 1978. He was awarded the "Golden Trumpet" on Guča trumpet festival. He inherited his musical talent from his father Svetozar, a trumpet master, from whom he also learned the first trumpet tones. At the age of 16 he started performing alongside his father and his band as the third trumpet. It is known that Dragan was even then one of the most talented performers in the "new wave" of young trumpeters of the 90s. In 1999, immediately after completing the military service, Dragan takes over the leadership of the orchestra, although, because of the importance of his father`s work, the name Svetozar remains in the official name of the band. In 2000, at the 40th jubilee year of the Trumpet Festival in Guca, Dragan received the strongest applause and a well-deserved trophy "Golden Trumpet" as the best performer by the audience votes - just like Svetozar 20 years ago. History repeated itself ... After the sudden death of his father in 2001, Dragan fully takes over leadership of the band. Although it was much harder to maintain the quality of work without the old trumpet master, many awards were to follow (winner of the Zlatibor Council 2002), as well as tours throughout Serbia and Europe. Due to growing disagreements within the band, in 2006 Dragan decided to disband the group, continuing cooperation only with a colleague and cousin Boban Matović. Upon dismissing the old, they formed a new band with a colleague Dejan Jevđić, at the time the head of the eponymous band. In January 2011 he started playing in Dejan Petrovic Big Band, but only to, after many performances including concerts in Sava Center, Belgrade Beer Fest, Belgrade Arena, return to Dejan Jevđić's band. Since 2005, he has been working, alongside the main activities, on the GONGO and VRKA project, an unusual combination of trumpet and accordion, engaging himself in authorial work. So far they have released two albums: Balkan Reggae (2010) and The Magic (2013).
