Caroline Herter was originally trained in photography and art history at the University of Miami. She then went on to receive her degree in fine art photography at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. At the University of Miami, she was awarded the prestigious Arthur Ross Award for outstanding senior art. She also received the First Place award for arts and photography at the university’s annual art show. Herter has fond memories of the university and attributes much of her educational growth to her professors. She was especially inspired by Prof. Dr. Michelle DiBenedetto, who she says is “the funniest, smartest professor.” Herter says that her art history classes are some of her “favourite memories” because of the rich context that they give to her photographs. She also says that she enjoyed taking the course “The History of Photography” because she learned a lot about the evolution of photography.
