Black Book Cooking is a website specializing in the demonstration of the fundamentals of food preparation and cooking.

Here’s how it works. The site comprises all the main ingredients available throughout the world; all the skills and techniques used in all food preparation regardless of cuisine, and the base recipes from which all other recipes are constructed.

The information is presented as text, video, and audio and each piece of relevant information is accessed from the base recipe and ingredient pages.

These fundamentals are bought together in a weekly online cooking show that deconstructs sophisticated recipes from high profile cookbooks, magazines, and websites and demonstrates how they are just compilations of these fundamentals.

The premise behind the concept is that once you know the fundamentals, you’ll be able to replicate almost any recipe from any book, magazine, restaurant, or event you attend without actually having the recipe.
