Dennis Long is a parent, coach and counselor to hundreds of young athletes. As a young amateur and professional baseball player he earned a stellar reputation as a tireless worker and loyal teammate. Since the end of his playing days he has helped young baseball players throughout the Northeast learn, respect, and enjoy the game of baseball. He is widely regarded as an outstanding teacher of the game, specializing in one-on-one instruction and group clinics for coaches and players from age 8 and up.
Dennis was a two-sport athlete (baseball and basketball) at The University of Connecticut and a three-year player in the prestigious Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League where he became a two-time Cape Cod League all-star. After his college days he realized his childhood dream and played professional baseball, for the Texas Rangers and New York Mets organizations, reaching the AAA level with the Rangers.
Dennis has maintained his lifelong love for the game of baseball and combined it with his care for youth and his ability to teach the game to players of all ages, handed down to him from his late father, Jesse Long Jr., who spent countless hours coaching and teaching the game to kids from Little League to American Legion. It is with pride and that Dennis carries on his father’s gift of teaching the game they both love.
