Lauryn Hill is sentenced to three months behind bars for failing to pay taxes.

The famous singer, Lauryn Hill, was recently sentenced to three months behind bars for not paying taxes on $2 million worth of earnings over the course of 5 years’ time. After her run in federal prison is over, she must spend an additional three months in home confinement requiring Hill to be monitored electronically.

The judge also sentenced her to one full year of supervised released and slapped down a fine of $60,000 on top of her tax liability debt. To sum it up, Hill didn’t get off easy.

She stated in court that she always planned on paying the IRS but couldn’t come up with the funds when her music career slowed down. Her lawyer pointed out that she paid a little under $1 million towards her heaping pile of tax debt.

Another celebrity, Stephen Baldwin was arrested for failing to file state tax returns in New York from 2008-2010. Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to the charges, offering to pay about $300,000 in back taxes.

Baldwin actually owed more than that amount, but the court waived the interest and penalty charges.
