18 miners trapped in Poland

18 miners are trapped in a copper mine in Poland after an earthquake caused a cave-in.

A spokesperson for the KGHM copper mine said rescuers are trying to reach the trapped miners through another mine that is linked to the one that caved in.

There is no contact with the miners as the quake cut communication lines.

The mine operator, state run KGHM, is Europe's second largest copper producer.

The mine is located near Poland's border with Germany and the Czech Republic.
