Valve declares competition against video game consoles, The Last of Us details are finally unleashed, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to release on PlayStation 3, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. While rumors have circulated around the idea of Valve entering the console market for quite some time, the long period of silence has seemed to deaden the idea, until Gabe Newell, Co-founder of Valve released the following the statement "I think in general that most customers and most developers are gonna find that [the PC is] a better environment for them. ‘Cause they won't have to split the world into thinking about 'why are my friends in the living room, why are my video sources in the living room different from everyone else?' So in a sense we hopefully are gonna unify those environments." Aiming to compete with consoles, Newell has made a point in saying that their intended launch will take place next year, but as Valve does best, details remain locked other than the fact that the environment of the console will be “very controlled” to allow for simplicity unlike the involvement required with PC gaming.

2013 is looking to be an amazing year for the gaming industry with titles such as Gears of War: Judgment, God of War: Ascension, and Grand Theft Auto V launching, but let’s not forget about Naughty Dog’s latest adventure, The Last of Us. Officially dated for May 7th, 2013 during Spike’s 2012 VGAs, which you can expect to see coverage from soon, The Last of Us will offer enticing pre-order incentives such as the Sights and Sounds Pack where participating retailers will include: the official soundtrack from the game, a dynamic PS3 theme featuring The Last of Us cover art, and a Winter Joel and Winter Ellie avatar for one’s PSN profile. In addition to the Sights and Sounds Pack, Naughty Dog has worked with GameStop to include the Survival pack including: bonus experience points for multiplayer, a multiplayer melee attack booster, extra in-game cash to start out, special customizable character items for multiplayer, and two bonus skins for Joel and Ellie which are unlocked upon the completion of the single-player campaign. Don’t know about you guys, but I am stoked for Naughty Dog’s upcoming release as when has Naughty Dog ever delivered an experience that was less than stellar?

Wrapping up Nick’s Gaming View, Carl Johnson is returning thanks to the announcement that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be releasing on PlayStation Network in the form of a PS2 classic. The best-selling title on the PlayStation 2 with 27.5 million copies sold, is now available through the PlayStation Store so for those looking to get their Grand Theft Auto fix before the release of Grand Theft Auto V, what better time than now?
