Rising star Efron sees film career at crossroads.

Young fans are flocking to the world's oldest film festival for this man.

Zac Efron, the former Disney teen idol, arrives at the Venice Film Festival for the premiere of his new film "At Any Price".

Set in the cut-throat world of agriculture, Efron stars as the son of a farmer - played by Dennis Quaid -- who's more interested in racing cars than taking over the family business.

A challenging role for the 24-year-old, who says he's now more drawn to smaller budget and cutting edge films rather than blockbusters and big bucks.

"I really enjoyed playing the character of Dean. I thought he was very complex, I understood him in certain ways very strongly."

Director Ramin Bahrani says the film blends family drama with a searing attack on big business and chasing profits whatever the cost.

"I'm not here to judge them but I am here to ask questions where have we gone as a world that the people who profited the most have gotten away with it and are dancing on top of everybody else."

After acting out the father-and-son drama, Efron says he would like to become a dad someday, but maybe not anytime soon.

"I am going to cross that bridge when I come to it, I'll let you know after the red carpet."

"I think he'd be a good dad, but not yet."

Efron is one of several rising Hollywood stars in Venice this year, who organizers hope will help compensate for the lack of A-listers appearing at the festival.
