Freedom fighter's wife denied pension

In TIMES NOW's continuing campaign to 'end the indifference', today (June 28) the channel brings out the story of the widow of a freedom fighter N Arunachalan, 78 year old Pappathy Ammal, who has been denied a pension of Rs 3000 a month. She has been visiting the office for the last 9 years. The Tiruvallur Collectorate officer's indifference and callousness is caught on camera by the channel. Collectorate officer admits Ammal's pension has been held back after her petition got misplaced in their office. Collectorate officer refuses to pay Ammal her pension till the original petition is recovered. Ammal's husband was entitled to a state pension meant for freedom fighters.
