Reducing Anxiety at Networking Events

Reducing Anxiety at Networking Events - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Networking is scary for most people so, if you can remember that, it will help you feel less nervous. When you walk into a networking event and you do not know anyone, look for someone involved with the event like the event host or someone wearing a ribbon, someone who looks official and ask them to introduce you to a few people. If you cannot find someone involved with the event then, walk up to groups of three or more and say something like, 'you look like fun group.' And usually you will get a laugh and then, introduce yourself. Or you can walk up to someone standing alone and introduce yourself. Maybe, say something like, 'have you been to this event before' or 'have you heard this speaker before?' They will be grateful that you took the time to reach out to them. Remember, networking can be scary but be brave, be friendly and you will do great.
