Etiquette: Making the Most Out lf Networking Events - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. If you want to get the most out of a networking event, remember you must have an agenda. Remember the five p's: Prior, Planning, Prevents, Poor, Performance. When you walk into a networking event, stand off to the side of the door and scan the room, look for people you most like to meet. Pick out just two or three. Stay away from those two areas which I call the traps: the bar and the buffet. Those are the safety zones, remember you are there to network and not necessarily to eat. When you find those two or three people you had most like to meet establish a relationship, just introduce yourself , shake their hand, engage a small talk and do not forget to follow up.
