Parenting and Careers: Finding Time for Yourself

Parenting and Careers: Finding Time for Yourself - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Hi, I am Amber Rosenberg. I am a professional life and career coach for working mothers. As a busy working mom, you may find that time for yourself falls to the bottom of your priority list and the bottom of your to-do list. So how do you make that time? The easiest and simplest way is to literally write it in your calendar and get it down as a non-negotiable date and time. And what I mean by that is get really clear and honest about how long it is going to take to go to the gym, to paint, to draw, to listen to music, to do yoga, whatever it is, and have it on that calendar as non-negotiable. So when it comes time for that self care activity, sort of you like to refer to it as, you do not pick up your phone, you turn off your email so you are really focused on the task at hand. And then, at the end of the day, not only are you feeling better, yourself, personally, but the energy that you have allows you to be a better mom and a better employee and a better partner. So everyone really benefits.
