In the centre of the play "The Maps of Shadows" the Bosnian poet Dževad Karahasan from Sarajevo uses the oriental form of puppet theatre named Karagöz. It is a kind of shadow theatre. For the story Karahasan uses some elements from theatre plays of the German poet Heinrich von Kleist as the tragedy "Penthesilea". The poets Kleist and Goethe are discussing in the play of Karahasan their different literary positions. The fgures of the Karagöz theatre are created by the visual artist Burgis Paier performed by Frankie Feutl directed by Herbert Gantschacher in a production of ARBOS - Company for Music and Theatre.
