Tunisia security forces have arrested two people near the Libyan border. The two men were carrying a belt of explosives and several bombs. Both are suspected to be members of al Qaeda.

Tunisian military authorities released a video on Sunday of controlled explosions, used to destroy explosives that were seized from two arrested men.

They are suspected to be members of al Qaeda.

According to Tunisian security forces, the two men were arrested near the Libyan border, near Ramada in the south of the country.

Arab and Western officials say that al Qaeda could be exploiting the Libyan conflict to acquire weapons and smuggle them into other countries.

One senior security official said that al Qaeda may be acquiring arms and smuggling them to a stronghold in Mali, a country in Western Africa.

Tunisian authorities call on the public to report any suspicious activity and warn them not to shelter any foreigners who might threaten national security.

Tunisia has also tightened security along its border with Libya since the start of the unrest, searching cars and questioning people trying to cross.
