Adrian Schubert & His Orchestra - Masquerade

Schubert actually was no bandleader, but the manager of several bands, among others the house orchestra of the Crown label. Every record he made came out under another band name; many of the same individual players were hired for some of these sessions as well. This lovely recording was made in 1932, with Harold Van Emburgh singing the chorus. Van Emburgh was a vocalist who made a series of fine recordings in the early 1930's, mainly for Crown. Thanks to the beautiful photograph courtesy of Mr. Van Emburgh's family, for the very first time I'm able to include a portrait of this excellent vocalist.
