Paul Ash & His Orchestra - Lantern Of Love

German-born pianist, violinist and band leader Paul Ash formed his first band in 1910, worked for many theatres and discovered a lot of new talent playing in one of his orchestras. It seems his recording career spanned the twenties and the first half of the thirties. This lovely record was made for Columbia on June February 9th, 1926. Personnel was more or less (not confirmed for this particular session): John Valentine and John Linn, tp; Roscoe Lantz, trombone; Phil Wing and Herbert "Putty" Nettle, cl, a-s; Howard Grantham, cl, t-s; Harry Barris, p; Paul Ash, vn; Julian Davidson, bj; Pierre Olker, br bass; Arthur Layfield, d. I could not identify the great vocalist, but may well be Milton Watson.
