Katarina Moller's Fatal Crash @ Sebring International Raceway 2018
  • 5 months ago
Twenty-four year-old drag racer Katarina "Kat" Moller, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away as a result of an accident during an exhibition run in a jet dragster at Sebring International Raceway, around 20h00 on Thursday 15 November 2018.

She was making the first of two scheduled single-vehicle exhibition runs, at the helm of her Larsen Motorsports "American Dream" jet dragster, on a temporary 1/8-mile dragstrip located along the main straightaway of the circuit. This was her first run in the car at Sebring’s regular drag racing event.

According to eyewitnesses report, the parachute on Kat Moller’s dragster failed to deploy after reaching the finish line. As the vehicle continued down the track, it swerved from the left into the right lane, scraping the right side retaining barrier wall before hitting a tire barrier on the right side at the Turn 1 of the road course, at the dragstrip’s end.

Track safety officials and emergency crews immediately responded to the crash site, where Kat Moller was pronounced dead at the on scene. Reportedly, a piece of debris impacted her crash helmet, causing her death.
