The South Korean company "Hyundai Rotem" showed the general public the concept of its main battle tank of the next generation with various high-tech solutions. South Korea's new main battle tank, called the K3, is based on a modular platform with a crew module in the tank body at the front and a power unit at the rear. The low silhouette of the tank with reduced visibility in the radar and infrared range makes the new K3 almost invisible to the enemy. At the same time, anti-tank missiles and other weapon systems will have stealth capabilities thanks to integration within the turret.
The development of the K3 main battle tank comes in response to the South Korean military's claim that the currently deployed K2 Black Panther main battle tank no longer meets the tactical demands of modern warfare and emerging threats on the battlefield. The Joint Chiefs of Staff approved the development of the K3 tank, with the first prototype expected to be released in 2030.
