Suggested walking route C: Pretty Lane footpath, Woodplace Lane and Farthing Downs
  • 2 years ago
This route involves initially walking down the Netherne Drive footpath (in the opposite direction from the school) and then up Pretty Lane past a lot of barking dogs at the greyhound stables and then up the dark and often very muddy (sometimes 12 inches deep) footpath which is often very narrow (less than a foot wide) because of overgrown bushes including stinging nettles and brambles which cross the path entirely. This path leads up to the stables and so there are often horses walking down this narrow path resulting in an extra hazard for children not to mention a lot of horse droppings. This path leads up to the hazardous Woodplace Lane where children are expected to walk along a short but dangerous stretch before turning left into a remote country path involving very steep inclines which cuts across the Farthing Downs towards the school.
