Jaime Planas (1889-1974 in Barcelona) was a bassist, director, opera singer and composer. He began his acting career with the orchestras of the most important theaters in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and some Latin American countries. He debuted as a tenor in the Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona in 1922, the year he founded his orchestra "Jaime Planas y sus Discos Vivientes" which is considered to be among the pioneers of jazz music in Spain. He traveled around his country, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. In Buenos Aires performed at the Teatro Avenida, In Chile he founded the Teatro Nacional de Revista (National Revue Theater). He recorded nearly forty works of different genres. This outstanding record was made in 1931.
