No, this isn't Fritz Lang's famous 1925 classic, but a full-blown Japanese animated feature set in a futuristic city filled with robots, corruption, rebellion, and mystery. And it came from the pen of one of Japanese animation's most legendary artists: Osamu Tezuka. The film, released 20 years ago, also has an impressive pedigree of talent involved. Its script is provided by AKIRA's Katushiro Otomo, and the animation was done by the prolific MadHouse Studios. More surprisingly, the English language version features a surprise appearance from the voice actor of Disney's ALADDIN! And that's not even half of the mysteries that await to be discovered in this panel.
